Statement on the Attack Against Sharif University of Technology

At the early hours of April 6, 2026, Sharif University of Technology (SUT), one of Iran’s most prominent academic institutions, was heartbreakingly the target of an inhumanly outrageous attack by the coalition of the United States and Israel. During this attack, the Information and Communication Technology Center of SUT was bombed and sustained severe and irreparable damages. This Center hosts the university’s IT, Data, and AI infrastructures as well as its high-performance computing facilities.

Universities, as institutions dedicated to education and the dissemination of knowledge, enjoy a privileged protection under international norms, and attacks against such civilian academic infrastructures are gross violations and potentially amount to war crimes. Such actions not only endanger civilian lives and safety of individuals but also infringe on the universal right to education and scientific progress. History has repeatedly evinced that violence against scientific and academic institutions has never succeeded in hampering the advancement of knowledge.

The Alumni Association of Sharif University of Technology strongly condemns this attack and calls upon international academic institutions – many of which have been academic homes to SUT graduates and research partners of SUT faculty – to join SUT alumni in condemning such abhorrent actions and conveying their strong oppositions and condemnations of this attack to their governments, the UN, the UNESCO, and all relevant international organizations.

بیانیه در محکومیت حمله به دانشگاه صنعتی شریف

دانشگاه صنعتی شریف (SUT)، یکی از مهم‌ترین مراکز علمی ایران، در ساعات اولیه دوشنبه ۱۷ فروردین، هدف حمله‌ای وحشیانه و غیر انسانی از سوی ائتلاف متشکل از ایالات متحده آمریکا و اسرائیل واقع شد. در جریان این حمله، مرکز فناوری اطلاعات و ارتباطات این دانشگاه (ICTC) مورد اصابت بمب قرار گرفت و به شدت آسیب دید. این مرکز، میزبان زیرساخت‌های حیاتی فناوری اطلاعات، داده و هوش مصنوعی دانشگاه و همچنین سامانه‌های پردازش سریع (HPC) بود.
دانشگاه‌ها، به عنوان مرکز آموزش و تبادل دانش، از حمایت ویژه در چارچوب عرف بین‌المللی برخوردار بوده و حمله به چنین زیرساخت‌های دانشگاهی غیرنظامی، می‌تواند در زمره «نقض‌های جدی» قرار گرفته و بالقوه به عنوان «جنایت جنگی» تلقی شود. این اقدامات نه تنها امنیت و جان افراد غیرنظامی را به خطر می‌اندازد، بلکه حق آموزش و پیشرفت علمی را نیز نقض می‌کند. تاریخ بارها به ما نشان داده است که هرگونه خشونت علیه موسسات علمی و نهاد‌های دانشگاهی، نمی‌تواند پیشرفت دانش را متوقف کند.
انجمن فارغ‌التحصیلان دانشگاه صنعتی شریف این حمله را به شدت محکوم می‌کند و از سایر نهادهای دانشگاهی بین‌المللی (که میزبان بسیاری از فارغ‌التحصیلان این دانشگاه و همکاران پژوهشی اعضای هیات علمی آن بوده‌اند) قویا درخواست می‌کند که در کنار فارغ‌التحصیلان دانشگاه صنعتی شریف، این تجاوز آشکار را محکوم کرده و مخالفت خود با ادامه این روند را به دولت‌ها، سازمان ملل، یونسکو و سایر سازمان‌های بین‌المللی مربوطه اعلام نمایند.
